Women’s AMPOWER Retreat Schedule

 

Thursday Oct 8th

5:30pm          Happy Hour Meet Up at Outback Steakhouse

 

Friday Oct 9th

10-11am        Check-in at Asbury Hills – get settled into cabin, tour the facility (on own or in groups).

 

11-12              Icebreaker fun activity –

 

Find 10 things you all have in common (4-5 people) – No body parts – must be outside the box thinking. 

 

Questions for round table – What aspect of your personality adds the most value to the world? 

 

Share an example of one of the best days of your life? 

 

What soothes your spirit when you are unhappy or in a bad mood? 

 

One word ice breaker – for the word EMPOWERMENT– take notes on the power point and project and discuss.

 

Follow up questions – Does this word / list of words resonate with you? 

 

Where in your life do you feel empowered? 

 

Noon               Box lunch (provided by Hanger Clinic) – maybe picnic style weather permitting

 

12:45               Share your story – show and tell prostheses

1:45-3              Vision Board Creating – Theme “Empowerment” - Find pictures and words that symbolize experiences, feelings and things that you want to attract into your life.  Let the images and words depict your goals and dreams for all areas of your life.  Use only words and images that represent your purpose, your ideal future and words / images that provide you with inspiration.

 

3-4                    Group Activity – ADL activities for UL – gait training, ramp/ stairs practice for LL – etc. “Show whatcha know”

 

4-5:15                Archery Instruction from Camp Staff – Theme: Focus / Visualization.  Focus on something you want to shoot down (negative thoughts, habits, insecurity, judgment, fears, etc.). 

 

5:15-5:45            Sharing of vision boards

 

5:45-6:30            Dinner

 

6:30-8                 Reflect on the day so far – anyone want to discuss what they were thinking of shooting down in the archery exercise? 

 

Does visualizing that and aiming for shooting it out of your life help?  Focus and attention discussion. 

 

Where do you put your focus?  Where is that getting you? 

 

One word exercise with "Fear" – Where in your life to encounter FEAR?  How do you respond?  How can acting from an empowered space help you face your fears?

 

Group Activity     Understanding Theory U Discussion (Carrie Leads)

 

8pm                     Campfire and S'mores

 

Saturday Oct 10th

8am                      Breakfast

 

9-10                      First Fit Stretch and Exercise Instruction with Nikki

 

10-11                    Free time

 

11-12                    Art Activity – Light a flame of empowerment (candle holder making) and bracelet beading with gemstones that represent things that you want to attract to your life based on the age-old properties assigned to the stones. 

 

Discussion – creativity and perspective – how often do you access your creativity?  Where do get creative in your life?  Where could you put more focus and attention toward creativity in your life?  How could that make you feel more empowered?

 

Noon                      Lunch

 

1-4                          Challenge Course – Tower Climb

 

4-4:30                     Debrief and evaluation. 

 

As a result of focusing your attention on empowerment, vision, facing fears and honoring your creativity – how will you take what we’ve experienced here together in the last 30+ hours together into your life? 

 

How will you be “different?”  More aware?  More present?  More open? 

 

4:30-5                      Closing
