What did you find most valuable about this retreat?
Michelle: Connecting with others
Erin: Just spending time together
Mary: Community
Melissa: Empowerment, friends
Hillary: Just the coming together
Sandra: Meeting and bonding with other female amputees
Paula: Getting to know everyone. Carrie’s presentations and format.
Faith: Connecting with other women amputees, the support, the understanding, humor, fun, stories, exercises – doing this all together. I loved the acceptance and “can do” attitude of everyone.
Julie: The sharing and feeling of community.
Katy: I liked the team building and glad we did the tower last – think it helped that we knew each other better.
What can we improve upon to provide a better experience for participants?
Michelle: Other different types of focuses – sport activities, exerecise / spa, self-help.
Erin: A longer retreat – like a day longer. Also more people.
Melissa: Repeat this yearly; stay in touch; have more amputees attend.
Hillary: Nothing.
Sandra: More opportunity to share feelings about and issues involving being a female amputee – maybe led by a psychologist?
Paula: More time. An extra day (3 days) More physical endurance activities.
Faith: Make it a fun two day (night) event.
Julie: There needs to be a better idea of what’s going to be done (post schedule of events / programming beforehand) and you need to get the prosthetists to encourage their amputees to go.

Michelle: Yes.
Erin: yes – love the Theory U
Melissa: Put fewer limitations on myself!
Hillary: yes – I learned about myself.
Sandra: The Theory U, the band for exercise, a few things about leading an amputee group.
Paula: WOMAN power!
Faith: Yes – when I push myself, I WIN – but others also benefit. Everyone has fear, but DOING something in spite of the fear is a choice – the WINNING choice.
Julie: Yes – Theory U
Katy: Yes – loved the Theory U

Michelle: No answer.
Erin: Recommend more people attend next year!
Melissa: Self-confidence. The Theory U.
Hillary: I will be able to connect with people like me.
Sandra: Yes.
Paula: Using activities and format to plan local groups and meetings back home.
Faith: I can DO anything I want! It’s time to find the different way to do it.
Julie: Spread the word to have others attend.
Katy: Be less judgmental. Understand how important communication is.

Michelle: Great to get with other amputees / women.
Melissa: Great retreat! Tears of joy, pride and accomplishment.
Hillary: I just had the best time!
Sandra: Awesome experience – very grateful that I had this opportunity. Would definitely do it again.
Paula: 3 days! Carrie is awesome – I loved how she put it all together.
Faith: Please continue these “camps.” There are so many of us who hunger, long for and seek support and positive empowerment.
