AMPOWER WOMEN'S RETREAT

The AMPOWER Women's Retreat occurred on October 9-10, 2015 in Greenville, SC.  As I designed the programming for this event, I relied heavily on all that I have gained through my 2.5 years of study in the ORGL Program.

The focus of the AMPOWER Women's Retreat was to bring a group of women together who had all experienced limb loss or lived with limb difference to share stories, support, friendship and strength. In this beautiful setting in the hills of Greenville, SC, these women were able to explore their abilties and not focus on their disabilities.  The program included creativity, awareness, the ten elements of servant-leadership, a presentation on the Theory U, communication, creating the space for open dialogue and genuine heartfelt encounters, community building and the list goes on and on.

The weekend included a range of activities intended to bring focus and awareness to the amount of attention paid to being present in their lives.  The slideshow reveals a chronolical recap of the weekend's activities culminating with a challenging tower climb meant to push the women outside of their comfort zones in a safe, empowering environment.  The impact of this weekend on this group has been profound.  We intend to host a second AMPOWER Women's Retreat in 2016 and hope to make it an annual event.    To view the video, please enter the password "AMPOWER."
